Quote Request Information: When you request an insurance quote through our Services, we collect Personal Information relevant to that quote type. This may include your name, contact information (email, phone, address), date of birth, details about the property, vehicle, or individuals to be insured (e.g., driving history, property characteristics), desired coverage levels, and potentially other relevant details required by insurance providers. You provide this information specifically so we can facilitate obtaining quotes for you from participating insurance agents/providers.
Account Information: When you register for an account to manage quote requests or use other features, we collect information such as your name, email address, and password (stored securely, typically hashed).
Payment Information: When you purchase paid Services, we utilize third-party payment processors. We do not directly store your full credit card number, but we may receive associated information like billing address, transaction details, and the last four digits of your card number for verification and record-keeping.
Communications: When you contact us for support, provide feedback, or communicate with us via email or other channels, we collect the information contained in your communications.
User Content: Primarily refers to the information submitted within your quote requests and any communications facilitated through the platform.
Information Collected Automatically:
Log and Usage Data: When you access or use our Services, our servers automatically record information ("Log Data"), which may include your Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser type and settings, operating system, device information, unique device identifiers, the referring web page, pages visited, location (depending on your device settings), and cookie data.
Cookies and Similar Technologies: We use cookies, web beacons, pixel tags, and similar technologies to operate and administer our Services, gather usage data, and improve your experience. See Section 5 ("Cookies and Tracking Technologies") for more details.

We use the Personal Information we collect for various purposes, including:
To Facilitate Insurance Quotes and Agent Communication: This is our primary purpose. We use the information you provide in your quote request to make it accessible to participating insurance agents, brokers, or providers ("Agents") who subscribe to our platform. Crucially, we also use this information to enable Agents to initiate contact with you regarding your quote requests exclusively through the communication features integrated within our Services (our app/platform). This allows them to provide you with the insurance quotes you requested in a controlled environment.
To Provide and Maintain the Services: Operate, maintain, secure, and provide features of the Services, including user authentication, account management, and the secure messaging system connecting users with participating Agents.
To Improve the Services: Understand how users interact with our Services, analyze usage patterns, diagnose technical issues, conduct research and development, and improve functionality and user experience.
To Communicate With You: Respond to your comments, questions, and requests; provide customer support; send technical notices, updates, security alerts, administrative messages, and notifications related to in-app communications from Agents.
For Security and Fraud Prevention: Monitor for and prevent fraudulent activity, security incidents, enforce our Terms of Service, and protect the rights, property, and safety of LowerDec, our users, and others.
To Comply with Legal Obligations: Comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, or governmental requests.
With Your Consent: For any other purpose disclosed to you at the time we collect your information or pursuant to your consent.
We do not use your User Content (specifically your quote request details) for purposes unrelated to providing and improving the quote-facilitation Services.
4. How We Share Your Information
We share Personal Information in the following circumstances:
With Participating Insurance Agents/Providers: To fulfill your request for insurance quotes, we allow participating Agents who subscribe to our platform to view the relevant Personal Information contained in your quote request profile. Based on this information, Agents can then initiate contact with you exclusively using the secure messaging system provided within our Services. Agents pay LowerDec a fee for this ability to view profiles and initiate contact through our platform to provide you with quotes.
Important Control: We do not directly share your primary personal contact information (such as your direct email address or personal phone number) with Agents as part of their initial access or outreach. All initial communication from Agents facilitated by our Service must occur within the LowerDec platform. You may choose to share your direct contact information with an Agent yourself during your subsequent communications, but that is solely at your discretion.
"Sale" or "Sharing" under CCPA/CPRA: Under privacy laws like the CCPA/CPRA, providing access to Personal Information (your profile) to third parties (our participating Agents) in exchange for monetary consideration (the fees Agents pay us), which enables them to contact you (even within the app), may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" of Personal Information. We engage in this activity solely to facilitate the insurance quotes and related communications you have requested through our Service. You have the right to opt out of this sale/sharing, as described in Section 8 ("Your Privacy Rights").
Service Providers (Subprocessors): We share information with trusted third-party vendors, consultants, and other service providers who need access to such information to carry out work on our behalf (e.g., cloud hosting providers, payment processors (if applicable), analytics providers, customer support tools). These providers are contractually obligated to protect your information and use it only for the services they provide to us.
Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to (i) comply with a legal obligation, (ii) protect and defend the rights or property of LowerDec, (iii) act in urgent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of the Services or the public, or (iv) protect against legal liability.
Business Transfers: We may share or transfer your information in connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, sale of company assets, financing, or acquisition of all or a portion of our business by another company. We will provide notice before your Personal Information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
With Your Consent: We may share your information with third parties when we have your explicit consent to do so (beyond the sharing inherent in the quote request process described above).

We cannot guarantee the absolute security of your Personal Information.
7. Data Retention
We retain Personal Information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law (such as for tax, accounting, insurance record-keeping regulations, or other legal requirements), or as needed to resolve disputes and enforce our agreements. Generally, account information and quote request profiles are retained as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period thereafter to allow for reactivation or as necessary for our backup, disaster recovery, and legal compliance processes. Criteria used to determine retention periods include the duration of our relationship with you, the active status of quote requests, legal obligations, and the necessity of the data for establishing or defending legal claims.
8. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your location (e.g., California residents), you may have certain rights regarding your Personal Information:
Right to Know/Access: You may have the right to request details about the specific pieces and categories of Personal Information we have collected about you, the categories of sources, the business purposes for collecting/selling/sharing it, and the categories of third parties with whom we have shared it.
Right to Delete: You may have the right to request the deletion of Personal Information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions (e.g., necessary to complete a transaction or provide the requested service, detect security incidents, comply with legal obligations, necessary for internal uses aligned with your expectations). Deleting your profile will prevent Agents from contacting you further through the platform regarding past requests.
Right to Correct: You may have the right to request correction of inaccurate Personal Information we maintain about you.
Right to Opt-Out of Sale/Sharing: You have the right to direct us not to "sell" or "share" your Personal Information. As described in Section 4, we make your quote request profile accessible to paying Agents, enabling them to contact you within our platform to facilitate quotes, which may constitute a "sale" or "sharing" under laws like the CCPA/CPRA. You can exercise your right to opt-out by emailing privacy@lowerdec.com instructions to opt out your information.
Consequence of Opt-Out: Please understand that opting out of the sale/sharing of your information will prevent us from making your profile accessible to participating Agents and will prevent them from being able to initiate contact with you through our platform. Consequently, you will likely not receive insurance quotes or related communications facilitated by our Service after opting out.
Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Personal Information (SPI): If we collect SPI as defined by applicable law (like the CPRA), you may have the right to limit its use or disclosure to that which is necessary to perform the services reasonably expected by an average consumer requesting those services (like generating an accurate insurance quote based on that SPI), or for other permitted purposes under the law. Currently, any SPI collected is intended solely for the purpose of facilitating the requested insurance quotes.
Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your privacy rights, though opting out may necessarily impact your ability to receive quotes via the Service as described above.
How to Exercise Your Rights: To exercise these rights, please contact us using the information in the "Contact Us" section below. We will need to verify your identity before processing your request, which may require you to provide sufficient information to reasonably verify you are the person about whom we collected Personal Information or an authorized representative. We will respond to verifiable consumer requests within the timeframes required by applicable law. You may designate an authorized agent to make requests on your behalf, subject to verification requirements.
9. Children's Privacy
Our Services are not directed to individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect Personal Information from children under 16. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected Personal Information from a child under 16 without verification of parental consent where required, we will take steps to delete such information promptly.
